Old Etonian（イートンカレッジ卒業生）のAlexander Maiyer氏が昨日来日し、2週間関東学院中高で授業アシスタントとして、中高生の皆さんと交わりの時を持てることになりました。彼のイートン校での経験、また現在プロフェッショナルアーテイストとしてヨーロッパ各地で活動する話も楽しみです。
彼のCVを紹介しておきます。
Language：English, German, French, Italian, Greek, Dutch
Hobbies：
Sports – international hockey Belgian U-14 team, Britain trials U-16 team; Belgium U-18 international selection.
Music – piano, saxophone, singing (grade 8 and higher) and composition; I got a music scholarship at Eton College, played in a Concert Band and sang in College Chapel Choir. Multiple solo performances and group performances. Have led a house choir (of 50 members) to a competition winning 2nd place. Have performed as a musician in a school play at Eton college. Have recorded CD’s with choir. Accompanied musicians during competition and concerts.
Art - Have received 6 of the 7 yearly Art prizes, the printing Prize twice, and the Hawksworth Prize (internal school art prize) at Eton College and current keeper of the drawing schools.
Career as a Professional Artist
Alex is a contemporary painter tapping into narrative themes of ‘violence ’and the ‘ugly ’creating works of unsettled agitation that evoke a vivid relationship. Relating to his memories and to mediums of his childhood; cinema, photography and literature, he uses the limitless possibilities of paint to visualise a still image that briefly taps into a story that creates a correspondence to pull the viewer back into an evocative relationship with the ‘ugly’.
Professional artist and painter, exhibiting and selling internationally. Hosting, curating and representing different artists at selling and showing exhibitions, as well as partaking in artists’ residencies and running my own artists’ residency. Personal shows are currently up and running in three different countries (summer of 2023).

羽田に着いた時、バゲージが出てきませんでした。ロストです。とりあえずユニクロに行きました。
